Here is a "report" that I sent to my co-workers on what activities I have worked on. Let me know your thoughts.
Thanks,
Board Meeting Notes for July 16th.
Housing Mobility
Activities:
·
Extensive discussion with Network Partners to
better understand the needs and challenges faced by homeowners and housing
counselors when retaining a home is not an option.
·
Meetings with New York City Housing Preservation
and Development (HPD) to explore subsidized housing options and referral
criteria for Housing Mobility clients.
·
Real Estate Broker List updating process. For
this purpose, the program has worked closely with a couple of real estate
professionals who voluntarily; had provided their expertise and advice in
order to ensure that the application process draws a good number of real estate
applicants who would like to be part of our referral list. The invitation
will be sent out soon and the vetting process will be conducted as soon as applications
are being received.
Achievements:
CNYCN and HPD housing referral pilot program:
·
Recently, an agreement with HPD was reached in
order run a pilot program for housing matching purposes within its portfolio.
·
This pilot will take into account where the client
currently lives; proximity to work, family, and school; and other related
concerns.
·
At this point, two clients have been referred to
HPD and are being matched with appropriate housing.
·
A benefit from this initiative is that some
requirements such: having a decent credit history, a main problem for those
with foreclosure procedures on their credit report, may be waived in order to
facilitate the approval process.
Housing Mobility marketing materials:
·
In order to promote the program among network partners
and other stakeholders, a one page flyer for consumer engagement with relevant
information about housing mobility and how the program might be able to help
the client.
·
A more complete resource guide is also being
developed in order to provide further details on rights and options, housing
options and resources and how to access them.
Next Steps:
·
Reach out real estate agencies to talk about the
Housing Mobility Program and explore ways to work together to refer clients
over to us and vice versa.
·
Contact servicer’s liquidation department to
find more on trends and challenges their clients are facing during the
liquidation process. Also, to consider the option of working together to refer
their approved short sale or deed in lieu’s applicants with our program.
·
Conduct additional research within our database
and other sources, on reported liquidation approvals. The purpose of this
research is to know more about on where, and what homeowners are doing after
their home is being sold, and how the program might engage this population
during or after this process.
